Watch both videos about protecting Marine areas off the coast of BC that are connected to First Nation's groups. What are some of the reasons why they feel the ocean needs to be included in their "land agreements" and become protected and managed by the First Nation groups? Write at least 3 good sentences. I think that the ocean needs to be protected as well so the Indigenous peoples can fish in their traditional ways and fish their traditional fish. The ocean also needs to be protected because if it isn't protected then there can be large oil spills and the gas coming out of boats can both pollute, and harm the ocean and sea life. It also needs to be protected as much as forests and rivers because there is so much sea life that could die from pollution and other harmful fossil fuels, garbage and litter.

I think that it is because they don’t want there fish and plants to deplete. Also because they where there first and the don’t want people taking there stuff. And lastly because they want all the sea animals there to stay alive. They also probably don’t want the ocean to be polluted.

I think that they protected the area because. There is allot of rare plants and animals living there that you can not find any ware else in the world.and it gives the First Nations a place to remember there ancestors. It also gives sea life a safe protected area to live.

I think it’s because they live off those resources and they want to keep living off those resources for generations to come. Also I think that they want to protect as mush as they can from plants to animals and lots more from going extinct.

Because they feel that their marine life should be protected for future generations. Also everything else should be protected so that the future generations don’t have to live through everything that was destroyed by past generations.

here are 3 reasons why i think the first nations should manage the ocean. 1. i think the first nations would take really good care of the ocean and make sure it is always clean. 2. the first nations have alot of good planning groups that can make the ocean cleaner. 3. they are very responsible and can keep any danger away from the sea life

The ocean is so important to the first peoples because that is were they get most of their food and animals also have their resources in the ocean too.

I think that this is a great idea to protect the environment from pollution in Canada.
I really like the idea for this and think it's going to help a lot
As long as we all stop then we will not even need to do this

so that the indigenous peoples can have better water and not have polluted water. they also want others to keep upper levels such as mountain unmined so that they can keep sacred and very valuable things not damaged. the last thing is that having marine protected lands means that tradition and culture is protected and not damaged as well.

I think the ocean needs to be protected as well because there is so much sea life in there like way more than forests and rivers and lakes it’s huge so it needs to be protected.

I think yes it should be protected but not just one spot a protected area were fish can swim around like they normally do. Although we are trying to to fix this problem we are not which is sad what if someone just came wrecking your territory and all your stuff like food and more is gone because other things/people are wrecking the way you live. So let’s be honest no wants that and especially fish and sea animals because they have no other place to go unlike us people.

I feel like if we do not litter and try other ways to get rid of our garbage faster so we don’t have dirty water or nature 🦎 it could lead to lots of extinct animals like pandas 🐼 and loose a lot of fish 🐠 and sea creatures even so dolphins 🐬 and I don’t want dolphins leaving 🌍

Because if we didn’t have oceans we wouldn’t have a lot of stuff we have now. Also oceans have fish and other animals in the sea would need clean oceans because then they would need to have fresh water and the birds and all the other animals who rely on the fish will go to . The last reason is if we make our oceans dirty than it will effect us to.

#1 i think it’s that since they live of their ressources they want the generations after them to have ressources too. #2 it gives the sea life safe area to live and grow. #3 they also want their plants just like their animals to not go instinct. :l

reasons i think First Nations should be able to manage and take care of the ocean is because they are capable and responsible if anything bad happens to sea animals and the ocean life.They would put lots of effort and time to make sure all the water is safe and clean for anyone to drink. they also train really hard and have a good team to keep the water clean.

i feel the ocean needs to be included in the land agreements because there are lots of endangered species in the ocean and they can help make them not endangered anymore. Another reason is because they are very wise and they will protect the animals from any harm. One more reason is because they have been here way longer then we have so that means they know lots about the land and ocean so that means they can teach people about the ocean so they can also help the ocean

I think that the ocean should be clear and cleaned. Also because the Indigenous Live off the land so clean water would mean a lot to the indigenous. The ocean isn’t a place to be littered in because a lot of people fish and eat fish from the ocean. We also need to be careful
of our choices because in the future the environment will get worse.

I think that it’ unfair because it’s part of their land that we too should give them the water parts for future generations and they probably will take much better care then us and that will help the water and animals and they will use it better and be more efficient.
