Water Crisis in Canada?

11/2/2022

We have been reading about a very unfair and harmful water crisis in Mumbai.  It may be surprising to Canadians that although we have the largest water supply in the world, we have a long term water crisis here too.  Watch the videos below and read the Canadian government response page highlighted in orange below.

Canadian Governments response here.
Blog post Question:

What are 3 facts you learned about the Canadian water crisis from these videos and readings?  Explain them each in their own sentence.
In a 4th sentence, what are your thoughts and feelings about many First Nations/Indigenous communities not having clean drinking water in Canada?

One thing I learned in the video is that some people have to boil there water, and some people don’t have clean water coming from there taps, and the last thing is some people have to go and buy there water, and the 4th thing is I think that the people who have water want the water for themselves and I don’t like that.

I think we are super lucky that we can just get clean water from the tap because some people cant.
Sometimes people end up going to the hospital because of gems in the water.
The other people have to walk get the water then boil it just to get a clean glass of water.

I just realize how lucky I am to just be able to turn on a tap and drink the water. And also I don’t know why they have to pay to get the bottle water. They already don’t have clean water then they have to pay?

Here are 3 facts I learned in the videos. First, I learned that there is not just a few places in Canada without water there are hundreds of places in Canada without water and many of them are indigenous reserves. Secondly, I learned that they use water treatment plants but the water treatment plants don't often work. Last but not least I also learned that they do lots of tests to see how clean water is everywhere in Canada. I think that the indigenous groups in Canada feel sad and I feel sad for them I also think that the First Nations feel frustrated as well that them or their neighbouring First Nations do not have clean water to drink from taps.

It is unfair that most people in Canada get fresh water, indigenous peoples can’t, it’s sad to see that the government spends money to get people’s hopes up, and then make there water supplies worse. They are people who rightfully live in Canada and they should get clean water like the rest of the citizens around the community.

One fact is that some of the water is bad you can’t even boil it. 2 if you didn’t have something to boil the water if it is a hot day you can put the water outside in a clear bottle. 3 the water comes in trucks . I feel not the best that some people in Canada don’t have clean water.

here are 3 things i learned about the water crisis. many lives are at risk because of the water shortage. and the risk score keeps going up. just thinking of people who may die because they don't have water coming out of there tap is crazy. many households in six nations, Ontario don't have functioning water pipes in there homes. the governments strategy is to build or repair infrastructure on reserves like water treatment plants. my thoughts on he first nations water crisis is very strong. i think that it is terrible that they have to go thru something like that. a truck has to come to every house every week with water jugs. and the fact that the government won't do anything about that is very sad. test after test after test and they just can't figure out how to get clean water. i feel very lucky that i can just go to my tap, turn it on and drink fresh clean filtered water.

Here are 3 facts I learned from the videos 1. That people don’t have clean water or not enough water in Canada. 2. That jugs of water get sent to houses because they don’t have clean water. 3. That the government built a place to get clean water that took millions of dollars but it failed. I think it’s so sad and unfair that other people get water and other people don’t.

How come we get clean water and they don’t? We only have to pay a few dollars compared to how much they need to pay for the water we can get and they have to pay so much for only a quarter of the water we get?

I learned that the indigenous people’s land does not have clean water .some water can be boiled to become safe for drinking.people drive trucks with jugs of clean water to indigenous land. I think it is unfair that not everyone has clean water in Canada.

I fell so lucky being able to drink clean water everyday by just turning on the tap.I feel like it is unfair how some people in Canada have to pay to get clean water.I think all Canadians deserve clean water.

The 16years with out water is brutal because Trudeau promised 6 years ago that every one would have access to clean water but it has not changed so I believe that everyone should have clean water otherwise they won’t live and continue their culture!

I learned that when Justin Trudeau made a plan when he hit office to give clean water to all of Canada and about five years from now raised two billion dollars and yet hasn’t fixed any pipes just used it for a water plant that doesnt even work

Here are 3 facts I learned in the videos. The first fact is that every week people come to the community’s and give each house some water jugs to be able to brush their teeth, cook, etc. The second fact I learned is that there isn’t just some places in Canada that don’t have clean water there is a lot of places that don’t have clean water. I learned that they use water treatment plants but the water treatment plants don’t usually work. I think the First Nations/Indigenous community’s aren’t fare because everybody should be able to have clean water.

It is crazy that some bacteria is so bad even if you boil the water, you still can’t drink water from there tap, and have to pay thousands a month to get six big of water per week.If we don’t stop the way we are using water soon in 2040 there will be over 20 countries that don’t have clean drinking water. Its not good that some people are using water like it is nothing and will take 30min showers. It is kinda sad that people don’t have clean drinking water and it is really bad cause water is part of health.

3 facts I learned in the videos was that not all Canadians have clean water. I never new that it was a problem and it’s not a big deal. for 16 years the First Nations cannot drink the water because of chemicals and chlorine so they have to get bottled water. I also learned that most of the Canadians that don’t have clean water are First Nations people. I think it’s not fair that only some Canadians have access to clean water.

Here are 3 interesting facts I learn in the 2 videos the first interesting fact is we are super lucky to have clean access to water. The second interesting fact I learned in the videos is that not just a few places in Canada don’t have clean drinking water well over 100 places in Canada don’t have clean drinking water. The third interesting fact I learned in the videos is that some water does not get clean even if you boil it. And finally what I feel about first nations not having clean drinking water I think it’s weird because they came here first.

first of all there are many family`s that have water that they can not drink. secondly there are serten areas with water that they can not drink & it can not kill all of the germs inside the contaminated water.lastly every week bottles of water are coming to houses because the tap water is dirty. How I feel about this water crisis is that many kids and adults are dying cause of dirty water and i hope that this can end soon.

I learned that Justin Trudeau spent 3.6 million dollars on a water tank that doesn't even give clean water. I also found out that for 16 years some First Nations haven't been able to drink healthy water. Also people drove to the First Nations to give them jugs of clean water, they also drove to every house. This makes me feel bad for the First Nations that they don't have a lot of clean water.
